BTTS stands for "both teams to score". A BTTS Yes bet wins if each team scores at least one goal. A BTTS No bet wins if at least one team fails to score. The final result doesn't matter: a 1–1 draw, a 3–1 home win and a 2–4 away win are all BTTS Yes.
On Nigerian betting apps the same market often appears as GG/NG. GG, "goal goal", is BTTS Yes. NG, "no goal", is BTTS No. This guide shows which scores win each side, how BTTS overlaps with Over 2.5, how often both teams actually score, and how the bet is settled, using the matches our own feed recorded.
Which results win BTTS Yes and BTTS No
Look at each team separately. If both have at least one goal, it's Yes. If either one is still on zero, it's No. The grid covers every score up to 3–3, home goals down the side and away goals across the top.

Every No sits in the first row or the first column: those are the clean sheets. That's the easiest way to think about the market. BTTS No is a bet that somebody keeps a clean sheet, and BTTS Yes is a bet that nobody does.
BTTS vs Over 2.5: not the same bet
The two markets get mixed up because they often win together. They don't always. A 1–1 has both teams scoring but only two goals, so it wins BTTS and loses Over 2.5. A 3–0 has three goals but a clean sheet, so it wins Over 2.5 and loses BTTS.
Here's how the 196 finished matches in our feed as of 30 September 2026 split across the two markets:

Two cells tell the story. All 23 matches that were BTTS Yes but Under 2.5 finished 1–1, the only score that can do both. And the 21 matches that went over without both teams scoring were lopsided wins such as 3–0 and 4–0. If you like the combination bet "Over 2.5 & GG", it's the top-left cell you need: 82 of 196 here.
How often both teams score
Both teams scored in 105 of those 196 matches, 54%. The other 91 had at least one clean sheet, and they broke down like this:
- 1–0 or 0–1: 30 matches
- 2–0 or 0–2: 35 matches
- 0–0: only 5 matches
- 3–0, 4–0 and bigger clean-sheet wins: the remaining 21
The goalless draw, the result people picture when they think of BTTS No, was the rarest of the lot. BTTS No mostly wins through narrow wins by one team, which is worth remembering when a strong side meets a weak one.
Keep the sample's limits in mind. It covers a few days. It also mixes every level of the game, top divisions next to youth, women's and lower-league football, and scoring patterns differ between competitions, so a league you follow closely can sit well away from 54%.
Reading BTTS odds
Turn the price into a probability first: 1 ÷ decimal odds. Then strip out the margin. Say BTTS Yes is 1.80 and BTTS No is 2.00, which converts to 55.6% and 50.0%, a total of 105.6% because the bookmaker has built in its cut. Divide both by 1.056. We run that calculation for every priced match on the both teams to score predictions page, averaged across up to nine bookmakers. On 30 September 2026 it covered 39 matches. The median chance of BTTS Yes was 56%, and the range ran from 25% to 69%.
That range is worth a second look. On the same day the chance of Over 2.5 ran from 37% to 93%. The market is far more willing to call a match high-scoring than to call both teams to score with confidence. On that day no BTTS Yes chance went above 69%, so treat a tip sold to you as a near-certainty with suspicion.
A real match: Independiente Medellín 2–2 Millonarios
Eight bookmakers priced this Colombian Primera A game, played on 30 September 2026 (UTC). The margin-free market gave BTTS Yes 53.9%, only a little better than even, and it put a Medellín win at 41.8%, a draw at 28.2% and a Millonarios win at 30.0%.
Both teams had scored well before half-time: Millonarios led 2–1 at the break. Medellín equalised in the second half for 2–2. BTTS Yes was already settled in spirit by the interval, and the draw, the least likely of the three results, is what the match produced.
Variations: BTTS & win, first half, both halves
- BTTS & win (shown as "1 & GG" or "2 & GG" on some apps) needs both teams to score and the named team to win. A 2–1 home win pays "1 & GG"; a 1–1 doesn't.
- BTTS & Over 2.5 needs a goal from each side and three in total. It loses on 1–1, the one score that is BTTS without being Over 2.5.
- First-half BTTS needs both teams to score before the break. It's much harder: a single goal in the first half is enough to lose it.
- BTTS in both halves needs both teams to score in the first half and again in the second. It's a long shot, priced accordingly.
How BTTS bets are settled
Your bookmaker's rules are the final word, but the standard points are these:
- Regular time only. 90 minutes plus stoppage time. Extra-time goals and penalty shoot-outs don't count.
- An own goal counts for the team it's credited to. If a defender puts the ball into their own net, the goal belongs to the other side, and it can turn a BTTS No into a Yes.
- Disallowed goals don't count, however late VAR steps in.
- Abandoned matches depend on the bookmaker. Where the rule is that decided bets stand, BTTS Yes at 1–1 has already won when play stops. BTTS No can't be decided before the end, so it's normally voided.
Frequently asked questions
What does no BTTS mean?
It's the same as BTTS No, or NG: a bet that at least one team won't score. A 0–0, a 1–0 and a 5–0 all win it.
What is GG on SportyBet?
GG means both teams to score, BTTS Yes. NG is the opposite, BTTS No.
Which odds are good for BTTS?
Good odds are ones that beat the fair probability. Work out the chance with 1 ÷ price, compare it with the margin-free figure on our BTTS predictions page, and only a price longer than the fair one is value.
Does 0–0 win BTTS No?
Yes. Neither team scored, so the condition for BTTS Yes wasn't met.
